British actor Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers, The Forsyte Saga, Colditz) is an outstanding as the world weary Norman, while newcomer Victoria Haralabidou (Stuff Happens) is a revelation as the feisty Niki. The chemistry between characters is powerful and palpable, but screenwriter Ioanna Karystiani chooses poetic and symbolic ways to express their physical intimacy. Even the simple act of lacing up a shoe becomes charged with eroticism.

The 1920s era with it's silk lace flapper costumes, ivory cigarette holders and lavishly trimmed parasols is faithfully reproduced. Dimitris Katsikis' lovingly detailed production design is bathed in golden light and panoramic views of Samothrace harbour are exquisitely photographed by cinematographer Yorgos Arvanitis.
